Spring Lake Christmas Train Village to Benefit the Common Ground Grief Center

The Spring Lake Christmas Train Village, located in the Duggan Memorial building, 313 Washington Ave., opened to the public on Saturday, November 25. It runs from noon to 5 PM until December 31. There will be extended hours until 8 PM on November 25 and December 2.

Barron Arts Center’s Holiday Model Train Show 2017

The Barron Arts Center Presents the 27th Annual Holiday Model Train Exhibit ~ On View Nov 25 – Dec 30, 2017

The Barron Arts Center in Woodbridge, New Jersey will once again host an exhibition of model trains curated by Colonia resident Michael Gelesky.

The exhibition will officially open on Saturday November 25, from 2-4 pm.

The exhibition can be viewed Monday through Friday 11 am-4 pm and Saturdays and Sundays 2-4 pm.  For more information, see the Barron Arts Center Facebook page.

barron train2.pngThe display of over 300 feet of track will feature a moving operating playground and three towns including Main Street U.S.A., a small town in the snowy mountains, The Boardwalk with a Ferris Wheel and Tilt-A-Whirl surrounded by an operating monorail. Eleven different trains will be used in the display with four trains operating at all times. The layout will be a complete walk-around-display viewed in the round. Display cases featuring several gauges from N-scale through G-scale will also be on view.

The exhibition will be free to the public but donations are always greatly appreciated. This event is sponsored by Access Self Storage of Woodbridge located at 135 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge, J.J. Elek Realty Co. located at 117 Main Street. Middlesex Water Company located at 1500 Ronson Road, Iselin & Wegmans Food Market located at 15 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge. This year’s show is also sponsored by The Mom’s Club of Edison.

All events at the Barron Arts Center are sponsored by The Woodbridge Township Cultural Arts Commission chaired by Dr. Dolores Capraro Gioffre with the support of Mayor John E. McCormac.

Bocce

Cultural Theater

Listen to guest speakers and watch cooking demonstrations. Located in the Italian Heritage Pavilion in front of the beautiful tapestry of Venice.

Dance Tents

Dance to your favorite performers on covered dance floors.

Amusement Rides

Enjoy more than twenty amusement rides for the whole family, provided by Majestic Midways. Rides are open all three days of the festival (Fri. 4pm – 10pm, Sat. 1pm -11 pm, Sun. 1pm-9:30 pm). Rides require two to five amusement ride tickets with most in the three to four tickets range. Tickets cost $1.50 each for quantities below 25 and $1.00 each for quantities of 25 or more. (Minimum purchase is two tickets).

Munchkinland will be housed in a tent and will have a soft play area for children under 36″ tall and coin operated rides and games for those under 42″ tall. There will be a changing station with hand sanitizer as well and benches for adults to rest.

Entertainment

Enjoy performances on two stages including the Investors Bank Stage and the Cabaret Tent. Entertainment includes national and international favorites, Italian folk dancers, big band music, traditional Italian music, Italian American favorites, opera, and children’s entertainment. Fireworks Spectacular

Join us on Saturday and stay for the festival’s spectacular fireworks display at 9:40 PM, immediately following the headliner performance.

Sunday Mass

Start Sunday with Mass at 11:00 am at the Investors Bank Stage. The Mass will be offered by Monsignor James Innocenzi in honor of military veterans. Then be part of the re-creation of a long-time Chambersburg “Feast of Lights” tradition when the statue of the Madonna di Casandrino is carried in procession immediately following the service.  Parking and Admission are FREE for those arriving for Mass before 11:00AM.

Tri-State Railway Historical Society offers free train rides along historic former Dover & Rockaway Branch of the Central Railroad of New Jersey

Celebrate Rockaway 2017, Sunday, September 17, 1-5 p.m. 26 East Main St., Rockaway, NJ, 07866 

The Tri-State Railway Historical Society will be offering train rides in Rockaway, NJ on September 17, 2017 as part of the Celebrate Rockaway 2017 street fair.

In partnership with the Borough of Rockaway and the Dover & Rockaway River Railroad, passengers will be treated to free 15-minute train rides aboard DL&W No. 896, L&NE No. 580, and RRRR No. 10 along the historic former Dover & Rockaway Branch of the Central Railroad of New Jersey.

Trains depart from the parking lot of Potbelly’s Riverside Cafe. The first train leaves at 1 PM and additional trains will leave as necessary.

Railroad Museum [for a day] Hosted by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey, Boonton, NJ

On Sunday, September 24th, 2017 from 10 AM to 4 PM join the United Railroad Historical Society for a celebration of New Jersey’s railroad history:

West Boonton Yard: 104 Morris Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005.

Railroad Museum [for a day] is hosted by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey, owners of the largest and most historic railroad collection in New Jersey. During this once-a-year event, the URHS Restoration Facility in Boonton, NJ will become New Jersey’s largest railroad museum.

For the sixth consecutive year, the URHS will open the gates of its normally-private Boonton NJ Restor­ation Facility to showcase some of its historic collection. Railroad Museum [for a day] will provide a rare, family-friendly opportunity to admire, explore, and go inside our historic trains and learn about their connection to the region we live in.

Visitors will be able to get up close and personal with vintage railroad equipment and well as visiting classic cars, trucks, buses, and military vehicles. Live music, food concessions, historical & educational presentations, and vendors of railroad-related souvenirs will round out a day that the whole family can enjoy!

Church of the Epiphany Italian Festival, Brick, NJ, August 17-20
